Staying Active on Vacay!

Blog-Posts · May 24, 2019

Summer is the time for packing your bags and heading out of town to enjoy time off. Taking time off doesn’t mean you sacrifice all your hard work at the gym, it means finding a balance to live a little in moderation. It’s all about understanding that your abs won’t melt away, the arm gains won’t deflate, and those calf muscles will still be there. Here are a few ways to keep you having fun while still staying on track!

1.Eating out

When you’re eating out around where you’re staying or at your hotel, Make HEALTHY CHOICES! Many people can fall into that “vacation mode” and think “I’m on vacation, I don’t need to eat correctly”….wrong, so WRONG. The choices you’re making for your body are the same choices you should be making at home. If the chips still upset your stomach, the vacation won’t change that. Making sure you’re making clean choices, helps set you up for success when you get home. We aren’t saying you can’t splurge a little, come on its vacation! If you want the chicken fingers and fries by the pool for lunch, do it! For dinner be a little more mindful, maybe a protein and a veggie, or a fresh salad.

2. Active Activities

When on vacation, sometimes you don’t have access to a hotel gym, or sometimes you do. If you do utilize it! Get it done in the morning, and take on the rest of your day guilt free! Often hotels offer classes: like yoga on the beach (depending on the location of course). Make sure when you check in you’re asking what is available. If you’re wanting to stay out of the gym while on vacation, that is totally fine as well, but making sure you’re still being active is very important! Going for a hike, or going on a bike ride are ways to stay active, while still being able to have fun!

3.Drinking

It’s part of most individuals vacation and helps create a relaxing, fun experience. That being said, you don’t have to go overboard. Knowing your limit is very important. Shoot for no more than 2-3 alcoholic beverages per day, less sugar-filled drinks, and make sure you stay hydrated with lots of water in between cocktails. It’s also a great idea to space out your drinks. Becoming a little too tipsy can easily lead to making bad food (and other) choices! Keeping everything in moderation helps to enjoy the time you’re spending relaxing, while also keeping yourself in check for everything you work for when you’re home and in the gym!

Vacations and relaxing are both very important for the mind, body, and soul! It’s okay to have a little fun, but keeping in mind everything you’ve worked can also help you not go too overboard! At TriFit Wellness we can help teach you how to create a balance between work and play! We will give you the tools to succeed both on vacation in that bikini, and everywhere else in between. Contact us today so we can help you get started! Vacations are fun, but looking and feeling incredible year-round is what life is all about!
